Hey guys. I really like how the game is coming along and look forward to it's release. But I'd like to know, is this game open-world or linear? What I mean is, can the player explore a big, open game world, like Grand Theft Auto and Fallout 3, or is the world separated into numerous locations that the player can't travel between on foot, like Dragon Age: Origins?

If I had to guess, I would say that it would be somewhat linear. The fact that the sunlight is deadly limits the exploration that is possible on the surface of Mars, so it is likely that you will be confined to the shady areas, buildings, and perhaps underground. It seems to be more story driven than exploration driven. This is just what I'm guessing based on the information I have seen so far.

Insomniac you're totally right. Mars is not an open world because of the sun. Although there are many places to explore that are not always linear.
